This project involved redesigning the packaging for Old School Brand Chocolate Chip Mix to meet sustainability needs. The focus was on reimagining the relationship between form, function, and surface, integrating materiality, surface design (2D), and practical volume (3D) using glass jars.
Key aspects include:
- Experimenting with the inherent characteristics of the glass jar, such as color, texture, and transparency, to enhance its functionality.
- Redesigning the Old School Brand Chocolate Chip Mix packaging to allow the jar to be reused as a cookie jar, or for refilling with more mix, encouraging sustainability and reducing waste.
- Emphasizing sustainability by aligning the design with systems thinking and ecological handprints.
- Crafting a final packaging design that highlights the contrast between surface and volume, maintaining harmony and unity in the overall form.
The process balanced functionality and aesthetics, creating a durable, multi-purpose design that encourages thoughtful and responsible material use.
